Your first visit

Trinitas Clinic

If you're a first-time client at Trinitas Clinic, you'll need to give us some information about your background, medical history and the nature of your condition. This is so that we can provide the best possible care, tailored to your specific circumstances.


What to bring

Please have a note of your GP name and address.

Please have a note of your medication if you take any.

Some modest underwear or shorts for males and shorts/leggings and strappy top for females if you feel more comfortable, so that you are as relaxed as possible during the consultation.

If you have any relevant scans or x-ray reports, please bring these with you.

If you are claiming for treatment on your health insurance you should have your policy number, case or authorisation code and the name of your insurer. Otherwise we ask people to pay for their consultation on the day of the treatment.

Anything else you think maybe useful.

Consultation

During your first consultation with the osteopath, you'll discuss any health-related issues and concerns. You'll also learn about potential treatment options.

History and examination

In order to pinpoint your problem, the osteopath will ask you a number of questions related to your condition. For the examination you may be required to disrobe to your underwear it is advised to wear shorts for males and shorts and a strappy vest for females. A variety of targeted tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent. A diagnosis will be discussed as well as a treatment plan and prognosis.

Referral

Your specific condition may require us to refer to another practitoner or to your general practitioner, either to rule out other conditions which may need further investigations, or to assist us in assessing the most effective treatment plan for you.

Same-day treatment

Once the examination is complete, patients will generally have their first treatment during this same visit. This may include a variety of treatment modalities will be used from soft tissue massage, neuromuscular and trigger point inhibition, muscle energy techniques, positional release, cranial sacral therapy, mobilisation, acupuncture and joint manipulation. All treatment options will be discussed with you prior to treatment. Please feel free to ask any questions regarding these treatment modalities at your appointment.

Home instructions

Before leaving, you'll be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be carried out at home. This may include ice or heat applications, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises.


Scheduling the next appointment

We arrange our treatments around your schedule. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1 week of their first consultation and prognosis will be discussed and you will be provided with a complete review of findings at each consultation. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed, monitored and adjusted with your consent at each consultation.
